MY STORY
Following several years working within some of the UK's biggest creative agencies, I began freelancing in 2006, which, as it happens, was also the year I fell pregnant for the second time. Having twins wasn't something that I had planned at that time (although it was a pleasant surprise), but it didn't prevent me from establishing myself as a freelancer, and then, when my twins were six months old, I went on to work as a freelance consultant for the subsequent 12 years.
For the past 5 years I have been working within agencies, which, after such a long period of working on my own, has helped to develop my strategic thinking, and hone my copywriting and management skills. It has also brought me invaluable insight into agency processes, ultimately inspiring me to return to freelance consultancy.
I absolutely love being a consultant and getting under the skin of a business to really understand what its key internal and external messages should be, and then decide with my clients how they should be communicated. I pride myself on my ability to build relationships with my clients, and with the media on their behalf.
As a freelancer I've worked on projects including advertising launches for AXA and Costa Coffee and a magazine launch for Channel 4. I've also worked with a number of recruitment consultants, a creative leadership company called Upping Your Elvis and many other creative and technology businesses.
Working alongside fellow PR professionals, I have managed accounts for UK and international clients, and many of my working partnerships have developed into friendships. That is definitely one of the benefits of working in an industry in which the ability to communicate and build relationships is fundamental.
My overwhelming desire now is to put my many years of experience to good use, and to help local and national businesses achieve great success through clear and effective communications, in the right places at the right times.
